I think that they will update the PowerMacs, and they will also release the 5G iPod. Planning on getting an iPod? You might want to wait a while. Coming in October, iPod fans hope to see the fifth generation iPod come out. This is what people speculate for the new iPod 5th generation:
-Video capabilities (Music Videos, VideoCasts)
-Bigger screen
-An smaller Apple click-wheel (not Synaptec)
-40GB and 80GB versions
-Maybe wireless capabilities
Well, it is time for the new generation of iPod to come out. Apple likes to release new things from 12-18 months. It has been a long time since the release of the click-wheel iPod. I don’t think that Apple will really concentrate on the video capabilities, but they will release iTunes 5.1, and a new music store, where you can buy and download music videos. Why do you think that Apple released h.264? With h.264, Apple solves the problem of downloading video.
I think it would be really cool if there was integration with iMovie, and in the iMovie, you coulud Export (File>Export) to your iPod. That would be really cool when presenting family videos, where you have your iPod docked and attatched to your TV’s s-video or RCA. I also think that the wireless feature would be really cool. What if you could update your podcasts, listen to the internet radio, and get Aiport Express video. By the way, people speculate that the Airport Express could use video and music. I really don’t think that this will appear in the fifth generation, but might come out later. I don’t know if Apple is ready for that.
Another good point is the fact that Apple just released the nano. No one wants to buy the 20GB or 60GB iPod, when you can get the awesome nano from cheaper and a lot thinner. So, Apple needs to upgrade their 20GB and 60GB iPods so that they have an advantage over the nano. Notice how the nano doesn’t have photo output, well, it’s for the same reason. They want the iPod to have advantages that the nano doesn’t have.
I hope that Apple will release the fifth generation iPod. I don’t know if I would buy it, because the nano is just perfect. I don’t think it is worth it to pay more for the video and larger hard drives, instead of getting the nano. But, I think I would consider it if it had the wireless capabilities.
