Today, Apple has dropped the 15″ PowerBook G4 out of its product line, leaving only the 12″ and 17″ PowerBooks in its PowerBook family. The 15″ PowerBook was expected to be the first to disappear, and some were notified that the 15″ PowerBook G4 was going to be dropped about a week ago. A listener to the MacCast gave Adam a tip that he talked with an Apple employee over the phone, explaining that the 15″ was soon to be dropped out of the product line.
I believe Apple will try to keep the 12″ and 17″ models alive until the finally release 12″ and 17″ versions of the MacBook Pro. I actually think it is a good thing that Apple has run out of 15″ PowerBooks, since it shows that they want to make this transition to Intel as fast as possible.

Wasn’t the 15″ plagued by hooror stories of LCD screen complaints all over the internet? Same thing happened to the Mac Mini which was supposed to have 4x speed but didn’t on the DVD drive.

Since this entry has been posted, the 17″ PowerBook has also been dropped from Apple’s Product line, leaving the 12″ PowerBook the only “pro” PowerPC laptop left in Apple’s product assortment.
