Many rumor sites are going crazy with rumors for MacWorld in January. We all know that Apple will release something extraordinary, and innovative. This year, it will probably be multiple updates to previous systems, and possibly a new item. Many believe that MacIntels will play a big role in MacWorld, and some say that Apple could have a MacIntel available by MacWorld. Even though Steve Jobs said it would be about mid-2006 until MacIntels would start shipping, but people are speculating that they are ahead of schedule, and are ready to release a Mac computer with Intel inside. With the MacIntels, we are expecting to see a large price drop, about $200, and a giant leap in battery life.
C|Net also reports that an update to the shuffle could be issued, making it much smaller, and make it available it multiple colors, including black.
Think Secret has an exclusive article, writing how they think an Intel iBook with a 13″ widescreen display. The new iBook is to have a significant price drop, about $200 or more, to compete with Windows models, including Dell, HP, and GateWay.
Some hope for the PowerBook to also be updated to a MacIntel at MacWorld, since it needs the update the most. The battery life in a PowerBook is very small, and the processor speed is pretty slow compared to other Windows notebook computers.
I am going to agree with Think Secret and C|Net on this one, the main focus will be the MacIntel iBook and a smaller Shuffle. Along with that, will be iLife ’06, with a new version of each iLife application. iWork ’06 will also be released, probably featuring a spreadsheet application, Numbers. Apple is trying to patent this term, so many speculate it to be a spreadsheet application to compete with Microsoft Excel. I hope to also see a new version of Pages, hopefully is less meant for handouts and brochures, and more for word processing.
Only Steve and Co. know the answer to all of these rumors. Apple is the most innovative company in the world, and they don’t want to leak any information before they release a product.
