Here’s a nice utility, in case you ever want to change your short user name for your Mac’s account. I had this problem a couple months ago, and I had to log in to the root user, and it was just totally a waste of time. I have come across this nice little utility that obviously hacks and changes the short name. I think that Apple should address this problem in future versions of Mac OS, but until then, try out Change Short Name.
