The Shortest Life Span of any iTunes: 5.0

October 12, 2005

Goodbye iTunes 5.0! iTunes 5.0 only lasted less than a month. That is incredible! No, they didn’t make it iTunes 5.1! They bumped it up to 6.0. I guess they wanted to get rid of 5.0’s bad name for bugs, and they wanted iTunes to sound like it has changed so much, that it deserves a whole new whole number. Okay, let’s get down to business. The first thing you notice with iTunes 6.0, is the “Videos” section in the sidebar. In there, I have all of the macTV episodes. If you go to the Music Store, there is a new panel that says “Just for You”, and it has suggestions for songs to buy, based on the songs you bought. Now, if you go to the “Music Videos” section of the Music Store, you are sent to a new page, just like the default page, but only music videos. It is $1.99 to buy a music video, and it’s as simple as clicking a button, just like buying a song. For the TV shows, there are currently 5 shows to download episodes from. There are only two popular shows, Lost and Desperate Housewives. So, Apple needs to get some more contracts with some TV shows. You can also get some Pixar short movies, but who really wants those to watch over and over again. So, there you have it, iTunes 6.0.
